our fave national parks are under threat—here’s why that matters

there’s something magical about stepping into a u.s. national park. whether it’s the towering sequoias of yosemite, the quiet stillness of the everglades, or the surreal landscapes of zion, these wild spaces have always offered a reset. a reminder that we’re part of something bigger. but this earth month, some of our favorite parks are facing serious threats. climate change is accelerating wildfires, droughts, and erosion. at the same time, shifts in policies and funding are putting public lands at risk in quieter ways—through reduced protections, increased development, or limited access. it’s not about politics; it’s about protecting places that belong to everyone.

why we care (and why you might too)

national parks aren’t just pretty backdrops for your nature selfies (though, we love a well-lit canyon shot). they’re living, breathing ecosystems. home to wildlife, rare plants, and stories that stretch way beyond us. but environmental shifts and human impact are speeding up erosion, drying up rivers, and putting pressure on fragile habitats. places like glacier national park are losing actual glaciers. coral reefs in biscayne? bleaching out. it’s real, and it’s happening now.

so what can we do?

we’re not here to guilt-trip. we’re here to inspire action that feels doable. protecting the planet doesn’t have to mean chaining yourself to a tree (unless you’re into that, no judgment). sometimes, it starts with what’s in your closet.

at bonnee | the clothing swap app, we believe in giving things new life—just like nature does. our community is all about swapping instead of buying new, which reduces fashion waste and keeps clothes out of landfills. every swap is a small step toward a lighter footprint, and that means less stress on the planet, including the parks we love to visit.

our team’s fave national parks

here are a few of bonnee’s most-loved parks and why they inspire us:

yosemite, ca: for the drama, the trees, and the reminder that old things (like 1,000-year-old sequoias) are worth preserving.

great smoky mountains, tn/nc: the mist, the magic, and that vintage americana vibe.

zion, ut: a reminder that bold, beautiful layers (just like in fashion) tell powerful stories.

everglades, fl: a delicate balance of ecosystems that feels like the earth’s version of a capsule wardrobe: efficient, essential, and beautiful.

this earth month, let’s show up for the places that show up for us

whether you’re planning your next park adventure or just want to live a little lighter, know that your choices matter. swapping a fit instead of buying fast fashion? that’s a flex for the planet.

because just like your favorite vintage jacket or perfectly worn-in boots, some things are too special to lose.

stay wild, stay stylish,
