aapi month appreciation post: sustainable fashion brands you need to know!

here at bonnee | the clothing swap app, we pride ourselves on our diversity as founders, so it should come as no surprise that we love celebrating other heritages! this month, we are stoked to be celebrating aapi month and especially some of the fabulous fashion designers and labels that have come from this community. while we are a clothing swap app and preach that swapping before shopping is the most sustainable option, we get that there are times when we can’t help but buy new. nothing wrong with that - we are human after all! check out some of our fave aapi fashion designers and labels that are keeping us stylish while respecting the planet

ph5

i am an absolute sucker for anything knit, so it’s no surprise that ph5 is at the top of my list! founded by wei lin, the daughter of a knitwear manufacturer, we can’t help but swoon at every piece in her collection. ph5’s pieces are edgy, eye-catching, unique, and traffic stoppers. as a Miami transplant for the past 12 years, i can get behind anything that’s colorful and neon, just like most of the looks from the collection. and for every garment sold, ph5 promises to plant one tree in return, having planted 14,568 trees in 2023. can someone please upload a ph5 item to swap on bonnee | the clothing swap app??

ashlyn

ashlyn may be out of my price range right now but you can’t stop a girl from dreaming, amirite? ashlyn’s dreamy, feminine, and structured pieces are a “modern interpretation of traditional tailoring”. founded by ashlynn park, this high-end label is committed to zero waste - something bonnee | the clothing swap app is all about! every piece from the ashlyn collection is a true work of art and love with beautiful detailing and unique touches. you’ll definitely be the belle of the ball in one of these creations!

private policy

if my teenage angst could be encapsulated in a fashion brand it would definitely be private policy. with its edgy, rebellious, and genderless pieces, private policy, is the ever-so-cool label 16-year old me would have loved had it been around then! founders and creative directors haoran lin and siying qu have tackled issues such as sustainability, enslaved fishermen, and humanity’s relationship with money in past collections. here at bonnee | the clothing swap app, we love it when fashion makes a statement!

svnr

svnr, pronounced like “souvenir”, is one of my fave brands for island and boho-vibes slip dresses, accessories, and jewelry. founded by christina tung, svnr prides itself on its commitment to sustainable manufacturing processes and conscious consumption, with the brand’s pieces made from upcycled and natural materials. jetting off to ibiza, mykonos, or st. tropez this summer? well, don’t forget to pack some pieces from this brand because it’s giving chic!

at bonnee | the clothing swap app, we are always on the hunt for designers and labels that align with our values of caring for our precious planet. if you’re not able to swap before shop, i encourage you to take the time to research sustainable designers and labels like the ones i have highlighted here. make sure you join our online clothing swap app community for cool new fits that don’t come at the expense of our environment!
